Robert Nathan’s retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet with the clever twist, that the star-crossed lovers never died, but instead, faked their deaths. The story picks up ten years later, and they’re living in seclusion in the village of Mantua, (no one knows they’re alive) and they can’t stand each other! Nathan’s imaginative romantic comedy ‘take’ springboards the notion of modern problems set in 14th century Italy, and the idea that first love is rarely everlasting, and gives way to a much deeper love. A mature love that beckons the call, “show me where your wounds are so that I know where to love you first.”
Note: JULIET IN MANTUA is currently in advance film development with what we believe is an even more inspired ‘take’ that connects the dots to today’s world.
